==Start of her draughts career==
She started playing draughts quite late, fourteen years of age. Nine years later, in 1979, she became the women's world champion. She also participated in the world championships in 1980 and 1981, where she finished second and in 1977 third. The draughts women's championships of the Soviet Union she also won only once, in 1979. In 1977 and 1982 she finished second.
At that time she was quite fanatic, and for a tournament she was training five or six hours every day. Michael Kats was her trainer. A very good coach. This Michael Kats in Minsk had a very big influence on women's draughts.
